James Lyne
Cyber Security Specialist
James Lyne is the Global Head of Security Research for Sophos, one of the world’s largest security companies, trying to defend against malicious code. He is a self-professed ‘massive geek’ and has technical expertise spanning a variety of the security domains from forensics to offensive security. In an ever-expanding world of networked mobile devices, security threats are more widespread than ever, James believes that if we continue to ignore basic best practices, security is on a trajectory of failure.

James is also a Certified Instructor and Director, EMEA for the SANS Institute where he teaches a variety of subjects including incident handling and ethical hacking. For the past 10 years he has researched malware, hacking and cryptography. He has worked with many of the world’s largest organisations on security strategy, handled a number of severe incidents and is a frequent industry advisor. He has given multiple TED talks, including at the main TED event. He’s also appeared on a long list of national TV programs including CNN, NBC and BBC News.[/expand]
James is a firm believer that one of the biggest problems of security is making it accessible and interesting to those outside the Security Industry. As a result, he makes the most of every opportunity he can to educate audiences about security threats using incredible live demonstrations to show exactly how the cyber criminals do it. [/expand]
