Mark Turrell
Renowned Expert on Communication & Collaborative Technologies
Mark Turrell is the the founder and CEO of Orcasci and former CEO & Co-founder of Imaginatik. His two major achievements to date include Imaginatik’s award of Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum in 2008, and taking Imaginatik public on the London Stock Exchange. In 1998, he was the first to recognize the potential for idea management technology, then defined by Post-it® Notes brainstorms and suggestion boxes. He was the first to incorporate human and management factors into innovation management technology.
“Mark taps into the collective genius that exists when we combine many brains together and focus the brainpower, like a human laser beam, on a problem”
Mark graduated in Business Studies from Cass Business School in London, with a specialization in marketing. He conducted post-graduate studies at the ESCP in Paris, specializing in International Business & Finance, and then at the TU-Berlin where he studied Production, Controlling & Logistics. He worked on his doctorate at Cass Business School on the topic of critical mass and diffusion of collaborative technologies – and used his uncompleted thesis as the conceptual foundation of the company that was to become Imaginatik plc. Prior to founding Imaginatik, Mark worked at General Motors and Intel.[/expand]
A World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer & Young Global Leader, Mark Turrell advises major global firms on leveraging the ‘collective genius’ of a workforce to solve large-scale problems – his goal is to give a voice to all those invisible employees sitting on great ideas. He is committed to making change on a global scale, and is driving work on world problems, such as water, energy, poverty and waste. His fascinating presentations provide insights into how he has designed leading-edge innovation management programs for over 300 companies. His current work in the mobile space is focused on mobile applications, App Stores, and in the non-profit world, the use of mobile telephony to support citizen engagement and democracy.[/expand]
