Eben Upton
Founder and Trustee of Raspberry Pi Foundation
Eben Upton is the Founder and Trustee of the Raspberry Pi Foundation and also works as a Technical Director and ASIC architect for Broadcom. He is responsible for the overall software and hardware architecture of the Raspberry Pi, and for the Foundation’s relationships with its key suppliers and customers. The ultra-low-cost computer was conceptualized for use in teaching computer programming, as well as for greater educational use in the developing world and it was launched in early 2012.
“Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer. It does everything that a conventional computer can do, but it’s very small and very cheap”
Eben and his team are the magicians behind this incredible device. It’s a credit-card sized computer with very few of the features you imagine a computer would have and it’s designed to plug into things we already own, television, a mouse, a network. It’s powered using a mobile phone charger and storage is on an SD card. Eben has also held the post of Director of Studies for Computer Science at St John’s College, Cambridge. He holds a BA in Physics and Engineering, a PhD in Computer Science and an Executive MBA, all from the University of Cambridge.[/expand]
Eben Upton created a revolution in low-cost computing and shares with all audiences a brief history of the device, its development and capabilities and a look into the future of the Pi. He shows how he is hooking a new generation of kids on computer programming and shares his learning and insights to inspire and help others. [/expand]
Eben is a very charismatic and engaging speaker. His inspirational and highly informative presentations make him sought-after at conferences around the globe.[/expand]
