Chandran Nair is the Founder and CEO of The Global Institute for Tomorrow (GIFT), an independent social venture think tank dedicated to advancing an understanding of the impacts of globalisation and the role of business in society through thought leadership and positive action to effect change. He is also the Chairman of Avantage Ventures, an Asian based boutique investment advisory company in the field of high impact social investing which was established in 2010. He serves on the Governance for Sustainability Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum. He is a regular speaker and panellist at the World Economic Forum, the APEC CEO Summit and conferences organised by the UN and OECd.

Prior to starting GIFT he was Asia Pacific Chairman of UK based industry leader Environmental Resources Management (ERM). For more than two decades, Chandran Nair has strongly advocated a more sustainable approach to development in Asia, and has helped governments and corporations instil these principles into their key decision-making process. He is the creator of “The Other Hundred,” a non-profit photo book initiative which serves as a counterpoint to the Forbes 100 and other media rich lists. “The Other Hundred” aims to highlight and celebrate the lives of those who are not rich or famous, but whose stories need to be told.[/expand]
Chandran’s challenges current thinking on globalisation and explains to audiences why he believes that “nothing good will come to any of us if success in the new economies of the east is defined by flashy, western-style consumption”.
