Ravi Ramamurti
Emerging Economies Strategist
Ravi Ramamurti is the D’Amore-McKim Distinguished Professor of International Business & Strategy at Northeastern University and the Founding Director of the University’s Center for emerging markets, a pioneer in its field in the US. For over 35 years, he has studied the strategies of firms in and from emerging economies. Ravi has been a visiting professor at Harvard Business School in the Business Government and International Economy area, at the Wharton School in the Management department, and at MIT-Sloan School in the Global Economics and Management Area.

Professor Ramamurti has done research and consulting with firms and governments in more than 20 emerging economies, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, among others. He has also been an adviser to the United Nations, USAID, and Fulbright, and was principal consultant to the World Bank’s board on privatization. He advised The Economist group on its online education courses on emerging markets. He has also done pioneering work on multinationals from emerging markets. He obtained his BSC (Physics) from St. Stephen’s College, his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, where he received the Gold Medal for graduating at the top of his class, and his doctorate from Harvard Business School. Professor Ramamurti, explores the competitive advantages and the strategies any companies should use to “go global.” He discusses how the rise of emerging-market multinationals is affecting the strategy and performance of Western firms. He illustrates his points with Indian examples, but occasionally brings in examples from other emerging markets.[/expand]
